Bread based snack obsessed Sister Sandwich are set to take main stage on Friday night and keep us warm pogoing to their exclusive brand of punk lunch rock. If you can think of any bakery based songs that aren’t in their repertoire we kneed to hear them. ‘Brown Bread in the Ring’, ‘House of the Rising Bun’, ‘Brevel Brevel’, ‘You’ve Lost that loving Filling’… the list is endless.

Sister Sandwich were "baptised" as Sister Savage and the Buggered Nuns way back in 1992. The guys got together for a "one-off" gig to cover for a band who had pulled out of a local (Shropshire ooh aaaaah!) charity gig. Despite being bottled off the stage the boys enjoyed the experience so much they decided to go to casualty and having been patched up they vowed to continue their holy crusade for noise.

The fact that the band rely almost entirely on cover versions of other songs was mere coincidence as the boys had only time to scratch together a few songs in the short time leading up to their first gig. But the truth tells you another story, as the official version at the time was that they were too f**kin' lazy to get off their lard arses to work anything original out. This view was reinforced by the artist formerly known as Sister Savage, who was reported to say at the time "why should we spend hours upon hours of our time trying to get together some original material when there are thousands or songs out there written for us? Besides nickin' other people's songs gives us more time for drinkin".

The idea seems to have worked however as Sarnie reworkings of songs including crowd faves "500 miles" and "Kids in America" testify. The band have developed a unique sound and style, far flung from the original versions.
